This precision twin screw extruder barrel is designed for replacement projects where dimensional compatibility and material selection are equally important. It is manufactured around the existing machine geometry, process condition and actual wear or corrosion problem.
Matching only the nominal size is not enough. Bore profile, center distance, connection faces, locating dimensions and adjacent barrel interfaces must fit correctly. The working bore material should also match the polymer, fillers, additives and operating conditions.
The product combines two core capabilities: accurate OEM replacement and application-specific material customization.

A replacement barrel must reproduce the geometry required by the existing extruder, not simply copy its external appearance.
Critical dimensions include twin-bore profile, center distance, barrel length, connection faces, locating surfaces, bolt-hole pattern, temperature-control interfaces and process openings.
If these dimensions are inconsistent, the new barrel may create bore misalignment, internal steps, uneven screw-to-barrel clearance or assembly difficulty.
When original drawings are unavailable, an existing barrel can be measured, but worn or corroded dimensions should not be copied directly.
The barrel and screw elements work as one system. As the bore wears, working clearance increases, which may reduce conveying efficiency, pressure stability and process repeatability.
Barrel replacement should therefore also consider screw-element condition. If both components are heavily worn, replacing only the barrel may not fully restore the original working relationship.
There is no single barrel material that is best for every process.
General processing: Nitrided steel can be a practical option where wear and corrosion are moderate.
Abrasive compounding: Glass fiber, calcium carbonate, talc and other fillers can create strong abrasive wear. Tool steels or wear-resistant alloy-lined structures can be considered for high-wear sections.
Corrosive processing: Reactive formulations and aggressive process media may cause pitting or chemical attack. Stainless or nickel-based alloy systems can be evaluated according to the chemical environment and temperature.
Combined wear and corrosion: Some compounds create both mechanisms at the same time. In these cases, hardness alone should not determine the material. Wear resistance, corrosion resistance, toughness and temperature should be considered together.
The goal is to select the most suitable working-surface material rather than over-specifying every barrel section.
A segmented twin screw extruder does not experience the same load in every section.
More severe wear or corrosion may appear near filler feeding, side feeding, intensive mixing, reaction, venting or pressure-building zones. Other sections may operate under lighter conditions.
Higher-performance materials can therefore be concentrated in critical zones while more economical materials are used elsewhere. This helps balance service performance and replacement cost.
Replacement barrels can be supplied as closed, main-feeding, side-feeding, venting, vacuum or combination sections.
Heating holes, cooling channels, sensor ports and process openings can also be manufactured to match the existing machine configuration.
Critical inspection can include:
Inspection should confirm both dimensional accuracy and fit with the existing screw system and adjacent sections.
Please provide:
Yes. An existing barrel can be measured, but worn dimensions must be identified before the final geometry is confirmed.
No. The interfaces must remain compatible, but the working bore material can be upgraded if the original material wears or corrodes too quickly.
No. Different sections can use different materials according to the actual wear, corrosion and process load.
Yes. Screw and barrel wear together determine the actual working clearance.
Send us your barrel drawing, used sample or critical dimensions together with your process material and current wear condition.
We can help confirm the replacement interfaces, identify dimensions affected by wear and recommend a suitable material for the actual process.
